The Crossroads

A man stands in an empty parking garage, staring toward a bright exit as sunlight spills in, symbolizing a moment of choice. The scene captures the pause before a life-changing decision, where uncertainty meets possibility.

At one point the pain was too much and the tears were not really taking the struggles away… that part of life and that junction was not really unique to me, but the experience of the pain was. The fake smile during the day and pained eyes at night, pretending everything is alright and hiding it away from the world… I believe that we all have gone through that and been at that place, the Crossroads… where we had the option of taking 360 different paths.

I was standing at the same place where the sky above provided no shelter and every road was unknown. Some walk into the professional and I wondered what was I doing… I felt disconnected and having no aim. Every day I wondered what next… I recollect this was not the first time I felt like that… I had been at this junction, the crossroads before… school, college, the interviews when I was rejected and I did not know what next, when the only road left was the unknown.

The broken spirit at every crossroads, when the eyes were blurred because of the tears, gave a loss of sight – although temporarily-but felt as if forever. It made some places, some relations and some stories leave behind forever. The crossroads took away a lot, sometimes the identity and sometimes all the pride… what I got in return cannot be compared, but the challenge was with myself.

As the light of the car shone on me while it was parking, I realised I was in the basement of my building, sitting in my car. I did not for a second recollect if I was to go out or I had come back. I realised I was at another crossroads where my responsibilities were drowning me to the abyss with little respite, but I knew this time that I would be ok… the 360 options would lead me somewhere.

I took that leap of faith again to leave behind a few things and take those scars ahead. I started my car towards the outside world. As the bright light from the outside became visible… I knew I would have a road to travel till my next destination… The Crossroads.
