The Walk…

A driver is shown seated in a car, gazing through the windshield at two faceless figures walking ahead. The warm, glowing background adds a sense of calmness and introspection to the scene.

Sometimes, it’s just impossible to cover the ground to reach from the place where you are to the place you are expected to be. The walk could be some distance to cover, or it could be the journey to someone’s heart. Rarely does the walk between two places also bridge the distance between two people. I believe every person has had at least one experience of this walk.

One late evening, while waiting for my car to be handed over to me by the valet, I saw two people with a similar resemblance walking in the distance. Their pace, walking style, and body language took me back to that part of my life when I did touch someone without even getting near. The heart beating to a rhythm, the walk never wanting to end, and the night stretching on and on with the clouds hiding the moon, so beautiful.

It was as if it was a walk in the clouds, and no longer did the distance or where we eventually landed matter. That walk was to reach nowhere, yet somewhere very specific in particular.

The horn of the car snapped me back, and the couple had now disappeared. Keys in hand, engine running, somewhere the walk had been lost — or maybe it was me who was lost.
