A touching scene shows a bald man in a yellow shirt helping a toddler take their first steps, set against a warm, yellow background.
The alarm went off, waking me from my incomplete slumber. The calling of the comfort of the bed was so strong, like that of a mermaid calling me to the water depths. A minute more of sleep turned out to be thirty minutes of surrender from the first step towards the golden ray to start the day. Unwillingly yet necessarily, I took my first step, and then in the shortest time, I was out for the office.
On my way to work, I wondered about the first step. How important it is for all. To take that first step and how difficult it is for one to do it. The first step of a child—a small one but the whole future is in the stride. The first day at school, the first exam, the first minute of getting the examination question paper. The first time you see that girl, and you skip a heartbeat. The first time your heartbeat skips every time you see her, as if it were the first time. The first job, the first salary, the first real crush in the office, and the first experience of being crushed in the train to the office. And many more firsts to follow.
My rental cab had reached the office. As I got out, I remembered the first client meeting for the day was to start in the next five minutes, and I ran all the way. I was the first to enter the conference room, with no one around. I wondered about the struggle to take the first step and the mental challenge to start. I believe everyone succeeds in the first step but fails to continue with the first step again and again.
As an entrepreneur, the only rule to win a customer is to take the first step and keep making an attempt for the dream to realize. The first of many were just too many, and I had to be persistent to reach that place of success. Being first. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was a call from the prospective client. They were on the way, running late, with some time still to reach. Irritated, I got up to get the first coffee of the day, thinking about the many broken first steps that never got me anywhere. But today was going to be different, I felt. I was positive about The First Step.
