Simply Beautiful

A man in a blue blazer, carrying a large backpack, takes a bite of a snack in front of a bakery display, with the bright sun shining behind him.

Hot summer and being a salesperson are two things that make you feel like either one should change: be in cool weather or get off the tarmac into a cool desk job. But as destiny would have it, walking with a few kilograms on the shoulder in the heat is the present journey. Missing luncheons and sometimes breakfast to make the presentation, meeting, demo, or seminar on time is the ethos.

Today, walking with the bag on my shoulder, I reached a familiar place famous for its vada pav—the Indian version of the western world burger. My feet did the auto-correct, directing me to place the order, and slowly but steadily, I munched on the simply beautiful snack. The hot summer, the suit for the meeting, and the freshly fried hot vada—imagine the state. Sweat pouring and yet lip-smacking.

I felt this is how it is: the summer had nothing to do with my eating. There are so many things I don’t prefer because of some preconceived notions or thoughts that I carry. But if I try, I can. They don’t really conflict unless I decide them to. Today, the bag was heavier and had to be adjusted while eating, knocking me on and off my thought process. My plate empty and the clock ticking for the next meeting, off I go in a flash—simply beautiful.
